Coronavirus (COVID-19): - Home Quarantine &
Precautions
Many of the
patients are recommended for home care or home quarantine if they show mild symptoms
of COVID-19, Asymptomatic but Covid test positive or flu with following mild symptoms
as following: -
· Mild fever
· Cough
· Sore throat
· Body ache
· Tiredness
· Loss of appetite
Home quarantine
helps in preventing the spread of infection to others and surrounding while
patients keep following the physician’s instructions and advised medications at
home only.
Precautions
at Home: -
· Patient must keep themselves away as
much as possible from the other family members at least maintain a distance of 2
meters.
· Keep inhaling steam in a gap of 3 to 4
hours to reduce viral load and keep gargling with warm water.
· Keep Nasal saline lavage or irrigation
(also called JAL NETI in Ayurved) in every 3 to 4 hours. This also helps
in decreasing viral load.
· Lie down in prone position to maintain oxygen saturation for 20min to 35min and repeat after 3- 4 hours.
- Make sure rooms must be well ventilated and have
good air flow and air filters shall be turn on.
- Keep portable oxygen cylinder for use. Keep check
on oxygen saturation with the help of pulse oximeter.
- Patients must
wear mask whenever they come in contact or surrounded by other people of
family.
· Cover face and nose with disposable tissue while
coughing and sneezing. Discard or dispose the used tissue in a separate bin
lined with garbage bag and seal it well and wash your hands with soap asap at
least up to 20 second or one can use sanitizer too.
· If possible, use a separate bathroom
which is not at all used by other family member with separate laundries. Also make
sure to use separate utensils for food and water and wash them with hot/boiling
water.
· Maintain good hydration and eat easy
digestible light food.
· Avoid chilled /cold water/ice-creams/cold
drinks /packaged food /stale food.
· Somehow if patient can’t wear mask
personally then the care must wear mask while giving care.
· Avoid exertion, stress. Take good
rest and proper sleep.
· Don’t forget to take your medications
on time as advised by physician.
- Do not allow
visitors or guests at home.
NOTE:
- If care givers or patients feels that their condition is getting worse,
oxygen saturation dropping and other symptoms are getting worse they should
immediately contact to their concerned physicians for emergency help and hospitalization
for better care and improvement.
Note: - Make sure you follow instructions from your
Physician and do things under their guidance.
